Category: Jobs and Employment
hey all, this summer i want to make some money, and i was wondering if you know of any online sources for jobs. i would do emiil tech support for a product that i have, or for computers in general. thanks for any help you can give me.
Its going to be kinda hard.
A company won't imploy a kid for tech support if they can help it. Think about it, you'll have to tell them your a kid at some point:
Company: so rat, how long are you planning to work here?
Rat: Hmmmm well theres school in a bit so.....
You get what i mean?
Your best bet is to learn some kinda programming lanuage.
This won't happen over night, but in the longrun, you can get large payments for making small programs.
BEN.
i would like to have an online job as well i'll take what ever!
try selling things on e-bay. there stores that do exactly this type of thing and carge commission for each item they sell.
I would like an online job as well but it seems all of them are skams or want money to begin with.
Have you considered testing the accessibility of company websites?
There is an organisation called the usability exchange (www.usabilityexchange.com) that allows companies to submit websites for testing and distributes the test invitations to a wide range of testers working in their own homes. You won't get loads to do, it's not a regular job, but you will get paid for each test they submit and you complete.
There is also a charity specialising in computing for people with disabilities - abilitynet, they also have home testers for websites - if you visit www.abilitynet.org.uk (might be just .org) there should be an email address there for you to enquire to.
Finally, a company in London called Userite also pays about £20 per test (only occasional tests though) for home testers to test company websites.
If you were to contact all 3 of these, I bet you'd be involved in at least some testing, and it cna be worked around other work you do. I'm working it around a Univeersity degree!
All these posts about online jobs are interesting. I've written down these websites and will keep them handy. Thanks.
also might want ot try www.tjobs.com or craigslist.org
I'm looking for online jobs that are part time or something, not
contractual.
i'm looking to get into soem online business. am trying reselling for my web site host, but don't think that's going to fly sadly. it's getting me down to tell you the truth. guess i'll stick at it though.
Hi guys! Thanks for that 3 given sites. I am also one of the zoners that finding online job to earn little salary. I hope there could be one for us. Goddluck to us.
I've worked from home now for the past 4 years.
I'll give you a couple sites to check out.
WWW.wahm.com is a site with lots of current listings. WWW.wplh.com is work place like home with forums and other ideas and experiences with work at home companies.
It is unlikely you'll find something part time online as an actual employee of the company. Most mainstream companies who hire work at home agents hire on an independent contract bases only.
This typically works to your advantages as more times than not, you set your own schedule ETC.
Oh I almost forgot customer loyality concepts google it i'm sure you'll find the web site, is another site i've worked for in the past. The system is very old and you'll need to use the jaws currsor a good bit but it can certainly be done. Pays 8 to 12 bucks an hour, and I believe you are an actual employee there! I personally didn't tell them I was blind when interviewing ETC and I'm glad I didn't because after I passed all the test's ETC it was hard for them to have any reason not to give me the position.
Ah clc, I did too see their site and wasn't sure about it and how accessible it was so i didn't apply. You had to use the modem as the autodialer, correct?
Also another site you might wanna try although it's probably better if you're a zoom text user for this because apparently not all the jobs are accessible with jaws with this company.
http://www.nticentral.org
There are also several job sites you can look at and several work from home groups to join as well for more information.
Jess
Yes CLC uses the modem as an auto dialer. A boring job but pay was always on time.
NTI is very annoying. I've worked with them in the testing of some of there projects and while thye're trying they still don't really have anything accessible to screen reader users.
There is also arise, and while it takes some up front money to start, the return is good. You work for fortune 500 clients and make decent bucks.
I had a problem with arise, the match exams aren't accessible so I need to find a way where I can do the exams so i can start with them.
But yes there are quite a few companies out there to give a try, not all sure if they're all accessible but one I was with recently is
http://www.publicopinionresearch.net
You do telephone surveys to residents concerning political views.
I've been doing arise for a bit now, i'm not sure when you took the exams, but I did them last novemember and they worked out ok once I got some assistance getting in the site.
I've assessed accessility for several work at home companies over the past several years, and unfortunately, many of them arn't accessible, but there are a few really good ones that I've worked with and made very good money. I try to work 2 or 3 at once!
If you have any specific question ask them here, or feel free to private message me.
www.convergys.com has work at home jobs, but you must be located in one of the states they have them in. All that information is on the site. I do not know how accessible the work might be, because they have different companies you work for. You click on carreers, then work at home carrerrs and you'll get all the information.
Yes and the system checker they use isn't accessible when you fill out the application, lol.
Also 1800 flowers.com has some seasonal jobs too and I don't know how accessible it is but www.alpineaccess.com is out there too.
Unfortunately, convergy's is one of the lower paying WAH opps as well.
Many of there clients pay in the $7 an hour range. There are those out there that pay double that and more.
Are all these sites in america or do they have thenm in other countries too?
Alrightie, I just wrote these sites down, and will start checking into them. But, this online job that I may find, will be temporary till I actually get a real job. I really don't like sitting on my ass at home and doing nothing. I'd rather get out into the word and meet people, but...thanks for the info..
I applied at convergys but found the computer speed test hard to access if you click on button 21 it will run the speed test...it uses flash so that's why it is hard...my speed isn't fast enough though.....
@20 - yes I think there all in america meaning that us uk people have to do a bit of searching ourselves.
